Carolina Italiani: in confidenza, Venezia.
Spigolare tra le pieghe del passato e, al tempo stesso, insinuarsi nell’attualità sociale veneziana, riuscendo a coniugare la bellezza dell’architettura dei secoli trascorsi con la visione quotidiana della città: la pittura di Carolina Italiani coglie questa essenza sulla punta di un pennello che conserva la freschezza del plein air, il respiro dei sapori e dei profumi, il brusio tra le calli, tepori e brividi di vento sulla pelle, il riverbero dei raggi solari, il gran galà delle luci notturne.
Realizzati ad acquerello, pastello ed olio materico, scelti da una produzione sterminata, testimonianza del legame intimo, familiare, tra l’artista e la città, i quadri esposti reinterpretano e propongono una sua Venezia profonda, affettiva e riuniscono l’incanto di milioni di passi, voci, luci, riflessi sui canali in un presente dove il tempo e lo spazio si dilatano senza fine; afferrano bagliori di migliaia e migliaia di remi che da secoli ne smuovono l’acqua, raccontano la storia che qui si specchia e le storie che sono trascorse e che oggi trascorrono; colgono di sorpresa Venezia dal basso, da dentro, da fuori, tra i fasti di fiaba della Fenice, i tavolini dei bar e il grigio sentore di ristagno lungo i moli delle Fondamenta.
Venezia dall’alto, in particolare, dai cieli, che, a partire dal piccolo formato quadrato, si ritagliano uno spazio poetico di nicchia all’interno dell’allestimento. La trama di sabbiatura, quando affiora in rilievo dal fondo, fa vibrare ancor più l’ordito cromatico del dipinto.
La luce dilaga nel campo celeste, fremente e sprigionata dalle gradazioni tonali. Non c’è sembianza di sole, non c’è luna: splendono, tramontano e sorgono al di fuori dell’inquadratura. Non popolano il notturno le stelle, eppure se ne avverte il chiarore nell’oscurità lucente. Sono presenze suggerite nelle in gonfi chiarori blu, violetto, in questa serie di quadri, si addensa nei movimenti di colore. Incontrastate protagoniste, le nuvole, corpi mobili e vapori di accenti cromatici ora violenti, ora sfumati, tra cui il bianco trapela in un improvviso sfolgorio vaporoso.
Tra una Lanterna e una Laguna risiedono le radici di Carolina Italiani e nel moto ondoso di una storia che allaccia Genova e Venezia e osservando i suoi piccoli cieli, sembra di udire il genovese cantautore Fabrizio De Andrè, quella poesia, Le nuvole – vanno vengono … corrono … ritornano e magari si fermano …
Nota biografica e artistica
Carolina Italiani, genovese di nascita, è cresciuta tra la città della Serenissima e quella della Lanterna, dove ha completato gli studi d’Arte, approfondendoli poi in Spagna.
Il suo percorso espositivo veneziano inizia nel 2015 alla mostra “Photissima“, curata dalla Fondazione Artevision (nell’ambito del circuito cittadino della Biennale d’Arte Contemporanea). Nel 2017 partecipa ad una collettiva al Centro d’Arte San Vidal, presso la Scoleta di S. Zaccaria, alla mostra “Echi di Arte Viva”, che la vede anche in veste di curatrice. Sempre al Centro d’Arte San Vidal, partecipa in seguito anche alla mostra “Artechiamaarte”,
Nel 2017 espone al Ca’ Posani Hotel nello splendido contesto Deco’ Design.
Da alcuni anni e’ presente nelle rassegne d’arte “città in Festa” facendo parte dell’Associazione artistica “Le Colonete”.
Carolina Italiani : Intimacy, Venice
Gleaning among the folds of the past while being part of the social reality of Venice and succeeding to merge the wonder of the architecture of the ancient times with the every day reality. Carolina Italiani’s paintings transmit this spirit through her paintbrush which preserves the freshness of the “en plein air” full of tastes and perfumes mixed with the buzz of the “calli”, the caress of the wind on your shoulder, the reflexion of the sun, the great “galà” of the evening lights.
Watercolour, pastel and oil works chosen from a huge collection which proves the intimate, familial bond of this artist and the town. The paintings exposed reinterpret and suggest a Venice of her own, deep and emotional, where the enchantment of millions of steps, voices, lights reflected on the canals plunge in the daily reality where time and space dilate endlessly. They catch thousands and thousands of flashes of gondolas’ oars that have cut the water since the most ancient time, telling the stories that are here reflected since centuries ago and continue in the present. . They take Venice by surprise from below, from inside, from outside, from the magnificence of “La Fenice” to the outdoor coffee tables, up to the stagnating grey waters of the Fondamenta.
Venice from the sky that in a small squared area reflects itself in a poetic space inside the painted area. The sandblasting fabric, emerging from the botton with a corrugated effect, accentuates the chromatic shades of the work.
The light spreads throughout the blue of the sky reflected by different color tones. But there is no sun, there is no moon: they shine, rise and set outside the painted framework. There are no stars in the night but their presence is felt through their glean in the surrounding darkness. Their presence is suggested by flashes of blue, violet and pink while the clouds, the uncontrasted protagonists of the sky ,float as mobile bodies full of white vapour.
The roots of Carolina Italiani are deeply planted between the” Lanterna” and the “Laguna” and in the waves’ motion of a sea which links Genoa to Venice. Looking at her small skyes we remember the songwriter’s words, Fabrizio de André : “le nuvole vanno e vengono, corrono, ritornano e magari si fermano” (clouds come and go, run come back and sometimes they stop…)
Biographical note
Carolina Italiani, borne in Genoa, grew up both in Venice and Genoa, where she completed her Fine Arts studies, later perfected in Spain. Her exhibitions in Venice started in 2015 at Photissima, an event organized by the foudation Artevision (within the city circuit of the Biennale of Contemporary Art). In 2017 she takes part in a collective event organized by the Art Centre San Vidal at the Scoleta of San Zaccaria as well as to the exhibition “Echi di Arte Viva” where she is also part of the organizing committee. In the same Art Centre San Vidal she participates to the exhibition “Artechiamarte”.
In 2017 the artist exhibits her works at the Ca’ Posani Hotel within the marvellous contest Deco Design.
Since same years she is present in the art events “ Citta in Festa” being part of the Art Association “ le Colonete”
